On this Remembrance Day we as Canadians honor those fallen heroes of all World Wars/conflicts around the world. I particular, my father, James Mackan, who as young man of 20 years, fought gallantly and with courage overseas during WW2. With the grace of God, he returned to begin a family and a lasting legacy.
For those veterans who struggle with lasting emotional scars, we give our support and pray for peace, that you will find solace in …

If you're completely new to recording your own music, this post is for you!
It can be daunting knowing where to start when it comes to recording your own music, there's a few factors to consider before you begin.
1. What computer and software should I use?
2. What do I need to start for my own recording needs?
To answer the first question, I will always advocate for using what you have when it comes to a computer. Both Mac and …

Hello music fans.
Its been busy at work, but with a day off and coffee in hand, lets continue this journey.
I remember buying my first stereo unit from Arnills Music back in the day and one of the first albums I bought was Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen. I immediately loved it and went on to collect his other albums/cds from then on. I can still hear my father yelling downstairs to turn down that music. I eventually bought a pair of …

As a member of the Legion Band, we play at the Annual Remembrance Day ceremonies that are held at the Memorial Gardens. For the 3rd year in a row now, I won't be part-taking in the ceremonies at the Gardens, as I will be playing "The Last Post" at the Sault College Ceremonies for three years now. It is the least I can do to make their ceremony meaningful.

Hey Lovely Humans!
I just realized that we don't have any centralized listings for local bands.
If you have a band or the name of a friend's band and an email to get in contact with them can you please post it in this thread? (Yeah, yeah-- shameless plug for my ladies duo Fun & Funner in the photo, but you could have thought of it too! Haha)
Having one spot to search is a really lovely way for promoters to "shop" talent when they are …

Good morning music fans.
What is the one song you are currently obsessed with ? Local or global, what's on repeat for you now?
For me that song is Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen written for the movie Philadelphia. This movie portrays the struggles of battling an Aids diagnosis and the discrimination and homophobia that goes along with it.
But this song also has a personal message for me as I saw my Dad waste away the days …

Good day music fans.
As we move further into the fall season, Canadians and Americans gather to commemorate the disastrous maritime accident in recent history.
The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was a Great Lakes freighter that tragically sank in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975, during a severe storm. All 29 crew members were lost in the disaster. The ship was en route from Superior, Wisconsin, to a steel mill near Detroit, Michigan, carrying a …

Good morning music fans. So I'm having my morning coffee and going through my Spotify playlist and came across a talented band called The Warning, consisting of three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. Their album is out and features heart pounding lyrics in Spanish and English. Check them out on Spotify or you tube
I know its early, but looking at my calendar, there are just 10 weeks until Christmas and there are Christmas events happening in …

Seeing Incubus live in Detroit this past August was an experience my 16 year old self would have lost her mind over. This was the 25 year anniversary for Morning View, one of their best records, and I think I wore out my copy I listened to it so much. Getting to see it live so many years later was insane, and Brandon Boyd has definitely still got it!

So earlier I mentioned if anyone had a concert experience that still hold memories for you. I had attended a Bob Dylan concert at the Gardens back in 2008. I was quite young to remember his music but as years went by I started listening to some of his many hits.
For those that may not be familiar with his work his
career began in the early 1960s in New York City, where he became a prominent figure in the folk music scene1. His early songs, …

Did you know it's possible in 2024 for almost anyone to release a music recording?
There are a few things to consider before you begin:
1. Do you acquire the skills to do it yourself?
2. Do you hire a professional?
Both approaches have merits and in this post I'll try my best to highlight some pros and cons to keep in mind.
Doing it yourself:
Pros
● It can be an immensely creative and fulfilling process, you have total …

Good day everyone. Here is a music tidbit for you. Fifty years ago Supertramp released Crime of the Century which included my favorites Bloody Well Right, Dreamer and School. I really wore this album down but still rings true today.
Ok, so that mysterious band that I last mentioned is back on the concert trail after a very bad break up is Oasis. Here is some background info:
Oasis is an iconic English rock band formed in Manchester in …

Hello everyone and welcome to the music space. I am one of the co-hosts and will be sharing some general music knowledge, concerts near and far and what is going on in the local music scene,
My music interests span several genres from rock, to blues, jazz, country (old school artists) and classic rock.
