What is the one song you are currently obsessed with ? Local or global, what's on repeat for you now?
For me that song is Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen written for the movie Philadelphia. This movie portrays the struggles of battling an Aids diagnosis and the discrimination and homophobia that goes along with it.
But this song also has a personal message for me as I saw my Dad waste away the days battling Alzheimer's Disease and the impact it had on my Mother and siblings. I remember a man that fought for his country during WW2, raised a family of ten children and work long hours to support the ones that he loved so much.
When I last looked upon his face, I saw a frail man I didn't recognize, and said my last farewells in private with him.
This song can mean anything and everything to those who are battling or struggling with everyday issues and can be a means of healing oneself.
