This is not my bike, but except for the colour, (mine was blue metallic, with yellow accents) identical to the one I was racing in 1976 and 1977. BIXXIS (A very small company of only two persons, Doriano De Rosa (The son of the great Ugo De Rosa) who builds the frames and his daughter Martina De Rosa, a graphic designer, who does the paint and marketing.) They only build custom bespoke frames from steel or titanium. This one was custom built for Liisa.

Another Metzen Ellis frameset, from 2002. Size 52, Columbus SL tubing. One of our first frames without building a fork, which was carbon fibre and painted to match the frame.

Fort Creek: part 3 When trying to exit north from Fort Creek onto Third Line you come to a huge snowbank and cross Third Line, jump another snow bank to the plowed sidewalk on the North side. From there it’s easy to get to GNR where you have to cross again to the south side of the road where the Hub Trail is very well maintained all the way to Black Road. Fort Creek (part 2): Once over the huge pile of snow at the entrance there is a well beaten path extending about 3/4 of the way to Third Line where it gradually narrows into oblivion. I could ride some of the trail but it was very challenging and not for a casual rider. The only garbage can I saw was not maintained and overflowing with doggy poop bags. Fort Creek Escapade I rode my winter commuter to the Salvation Army on John Street and decided to try and ride the Hub Trail back which takes you trough Fort Creek. I ride a 2.6 inch studded tire and easily navigated the relatively well maintained part along Carmen’s Way to the trail head. BIKE IN A BOX We would jokingly call a box of Reynolds, Columbus, or Ishiwata tubing, a "Bike in a Box", because, in reality, it almost was. The bare tubes were available in various gauges (thicknesses) depending on the proposed use of the frame. Finally a shot from the rear. You can see the inserted 27.2mm diameter x 1500mm length of standard Columbus tubing required for the round seatpost. To the rear, you see the final aero shape of the airplane strut seat tube, two bolts to solidify the seatpost once mounted, plus the standard seat clamp lug. The bottom of the Columbus insert required a LOT of finessing, to taper it into the poly-conical shape of the aero seat tube. …

Here is a photo of the downtube / headtube gusset. This was cut, mitred, brazed , filed and sanded as well. There are three of these. One here, plus above and below the seat tube / down tube intersection.

More on the Flying T Square The rear chainstay required much finessing to enable the chain to run freeing, but also to accommodate my 'crooked' right foot. The inside of the chainstay was cut out and a curved tapered metal piece of sheet steel was brazed into the cavity. That was then filed smooth and sanded. I’m totally not surprised. We have normalized speeding in this city and it has to stop. What nobody wants to talk about is how much these crashes are costing us in money and suffering. And our council won’t allow photo radar which is proven to slow traffic down and dramatically reduce the carnage.

Detail of the mono downtube, headtube junction. We used a nose fairing, on the headtube, which was about twenty years ahead of its time. The large aero gusset melds into downtube, helping air flow, but also adding considerable lateral stability. You can see the hole for the internal cabling, again not commonplace back then. When Andre Riopel moved to the Sault for his first job after graduating, he did it by bike. It was a 700-km trek and he rested by sleeping in a bicycle sack under a picnic table. Enough with the nonsense. I switched my Netflix to CBC gem and now getting away from FB. It’s quite refreshing to watch Canadian content. Next is Amazon prime. Support local social media like Spaces and say no to FB Instagram and the rest. Stop being abused by Zuckerberg and his ilk.

This is a VERY special bike. This was a bike I lusted over when I first started riding seriously. This Cinelli dates from the late 1960's, or perhaps 1970. Determining the actual age of this model is very difficult, as there is minimal surviving marketing material, or solid dates when features were changed.
