This fall, for the first time, I read memoirs found at the local library. Life in Two Worlds by Ted Nolan, Between Two Kingdoms by Suleika Jaouad and Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H. It put me in places and experiences that I could not imagine. In all three the authors are moving through a world where"feeling safe" is not to be taken for granted. I recently finished The Serpent & the Wings of Night book, which is the first in (I think) three books. I'm not usually a fantasy reader, but after having read the two current Fourth Wing books I was on the lookout for something else in the genre. THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT No spoilers here, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! For those with a Kindle, it's available free on Kindle Unlimited. Let me know if you read it!

I don’t read it every year but I do collect copies of The Christmas Carol, as well as a few other books/stories. A good friend of mine gifted me this. It was found at the library. I can’t seem to track down how old it is but an inscription is in the front cover from man Olivia from Queens University 1902

Do you set reading goals for yourself? Such as, how many books you will read in a year, to read certain authors, certain genres, etc? My goal for 2025 is to read all the books on my TBR shelf. Although I doubt that will happen, with new books coming out every week!

With all this snow falling, where is your favourite spot to cozy up and read while watching the snow fall? I'll go first. I love putting on my comfy sweats, grabbing my softest blanket and snuggling up in my over sized lazy boy chair with a cup of tea or hot chocolate.

If you like a quick and spooky read, give this book a try! It's a short, easy read with not a lot of character depth but it kept me entertained. Available free on Kindle Unlimited too!

This will definitely be on my 2025 reading list. Hemingway spent time at Walloon Lake near Petoskey over his first 22 summers, and cut his writing teeth at the Toronto Star, where he wrote a memorable piece about Sault Ste. Marie’s rainbow trout fishing.

I read very widely. Stuff I agree with. Stuff I profoundly disagree with. I try to understand mindsets different from my own. Just finished this 1902 novel by Harold Bell Wright, the largely forgotten first American fiction writer to sell a million copies of a single book, and the first to make a million dollars. I was interested because the book appears twice in the recent Reagan biopic starring Dennis Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller and Jon Voight
