Q: What happens when you shoot one arrow INSIDE another one...during a provincial championship??? Answer: You take a picture! And both arrows get scored the same, based on the location of the first one. It happened twice this past weekend. Good shooting folks! (The results from the championship are still unofficial but once they're verified we should have a host of medals coming to the Sault :) )

What's the difference between a traditional wooden bow and a modern compound bow? Let's start with a longbow (pic 1). This is as simple as they come - the bow is basically a "C" shape. After dedicating themselves in classes, these ladies were ready to shoot their first provincial competition on Sunday! Since travel can be dicey in the winter, the Ontario Indoor Championships is hosted at ranges across the province, as long as registered judge is on hand. I thought I'd play with a pinkie trigger on the compound rig for a bit. It certainly forces me to focus on follow-through! Definitely can't slouch or get sloppy with back tension (engaging the musles of the upper back to brace and follow through properly). There's a bit of a learning curve and I don't think it will be my main choice but it's reinforcing some good habits.

Archers came together on a festive firing line this weekend. The annual Christmas Cheer Shoot, hosted by Arrows In Motion & The Algoma Rod & Gun Club, saw four full lines of archers.
