Archery

“Is archery even a real sport?”

What do you think? My thoughts:

Absolutely. Sports require skill, physical exertion, and competition—check, check, and check. Archery demands focus, precision, and strength, especially at the highest levels, like the Olympics. In fact, it was one of the original Olympic sports in ancient Greece.

But archery can be more than just a sport too. It can be an art, especially in traditional forms, where technique and aesthetics overlap. Shooting becomes a form of self-expression, with the bow and arrow becoming tools of finesse.

It’s also a discipline with deep historical roots and cultural significance. Across societies and throughout history, it has been central to hunting, warfare, and ceremonial rites. Archery represents resilience, honor, and mastery, often linked to historical identity and heritage.

For many, it’s simply a fun hobby, offering relaxation and a chance to unwind, but it can absolutely be a sport.
