Okay, it’s few miles from the Sault, but with a Germanic name like Helwig, I’m pretty close to heaven in a place named WVRST at Toronto’s Union Station. Even the Calabrese sausage here is only a few notches lower than Pino’s!

It's official! The HST has been removed from beer and most wines at the LCBO. They haven't adjusted the price-tags on the shelves, but when you check out, the HST will have been removed. Popcorn Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified in Napa California is currently $2 off - but take away the HST, too, and what was $17.85 is now on sale for $13.95. Shazam!

What a wonderful breakfast at Stacks I had the pancake stack and it was delicious. Too much food but worth every penny and mouthful. Have not been? Then make them your next stop..enjoy.

This is the New York Times trying to explain an exotic new food called ‘pizza’ in September, 1944. The Times was sometimes a little slow reporting on ethnic food trends. In fact, New York’s first pizzeria (Lombardi’s) opened in that city’s Little Italy in 1905. Does anyone know about the early history of pizza in Sault Ste. Marie?

For dinner we had Biryani House for the first time. It’s on Queen across from Wendy’s—just past Gore St, but before Andrew St. It is also attached to a small Filipino grocery store which is worth checking out 😊 I had chicken with rice, naan, and a chickpea curry 😋 We also tried the kebab. Delicious!

One of the best buys on November 30 Vintages release is the Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2021 from Argentina, $21.95. It is #40 on the Top 100 Best wines of 2024 for the Wine Spectator magazine out of New York. If Malbec is your thing, this is a must.
