Cycling

While cycling this afternoon, I was reminded of one of the cardinal rules of safe cycling. Ride in a straight line. The sun was low in the sky, but it shone all too brightly between the leafless trees. It was akin to riding through a strobe light, making the ability to dodge potholes, or their patches, almost impossible, as could hardly see anything. Remember it's not just the cyclist that is having difficulty seeing the road ahead. Beware of the car or truck driver behind you, who are having similar issues. They are not expecting you to suddenly veer to avoid that 50mm deep hole in the asphalt, that could easily flat a tire, destroy a rim, or bring you down. A cyclist is acutely aware of those hazards, whereas the truck behind doesn't even feel those same holes. Perhaps we could create an inventory of streets that could be repaired, or improved, to be safe for all ? Suggestions ?
