Cycling's most watched Podcast, the GCN Show (Global Cycling Network) aired last night and in the initial summary of that episode's contents, started with the "trouble in Canada". Most of the show was dedicated to how cycling lanes save lives and reduce automobile congestion, then they touched on Ontario's ban of new cycling lanes and the removal of existing ones and the huge cost to the taxpayer to remove existing ones. More concerning the finishes on bicycles. These are different. It isn't the frame finish here, but the components that are to be the centre of attention. Cycling has a long history of using 21 carat gold plating, usually on components, but occasionally they plate the frame. Here are two examples. The first is a Colnago Arabesque. Then how about no finish at all ! This De Rosa is one of my pride and joys. It is built using super light stainless steel tubing, which yields a weight comparable to titanium. Being stainless, no painting is necessary, so why bother finishing it and instead look at the great fillet brazing technique. What do you think ?

Thinking of other finishes, here are some pictures of my Pegoretti's. As mentioned earlier Dario was a passionate jazz lover, so when I ordered frames from him, I decided to have a theme for both .... JAZZ .... Here are two themed finishes. One a lugged COLTRANE theme and the other a THELONIOUS MUNK theme.

Here are a couple more. Liisa's white and pink Bixxis. Bixxis opened in 2015 from an idea by Doriano De Rosa and his daughter Martina, after his father, the world Famous Ugo De Rosa, passed away.
