I've started rebuilding a 1941 Humphrey 'Motorbike'. It's rare to find a WWII era bike in relatively complete condition like this.

A Humphrey is a brand that most people will not recognize. It is a 'rebadged' CCM and made in Canada. It is a CCM frame and CCM parts.

I'm preserving all the patina, scars, dents and dings on this bike but bringing it up to a rideable and reliable state. Cleaning everything, rebuilding the hubs, headset, crankset, relacing the wheels, new tubes and tires, new chain etc. I found a more correct saddle in my bins for it as well that would have been more original as well.

I can't wait to get this bike on the road this summer.

Photos are of the progress so far and the 'before' picture in a dedicated house bike spot infront of the fireplace 🤣

Thanks. I've got a few vintage builds on the go right now. I'll post some more of them later. I've got a 70s Raleigh Superbe almost done and a 70s Peugeot road bike frame startedthat I want to do up with all modern gear.

I really appreciate all the design and engineering that went into the internals of old bikes. I think photos like these really highlight them. I have some of a 3-speed hub I'll post.

Interesting fact (at least I think so) about engineering in early bikes, the first radial ball bearing was invented by a bicycle mechanic for a bicycle and was used in the first road bike race.
