A good buddy and I went to a training camp in Spain several years ago. It was February, but you would never know it. (except at the top of the mountains, where the weather was dreadful !) We times it so that a major stage race was going on at the same time. As it transpired, we essentially shadowed the race every day on our bikes.
If the peloton went left, we went right, intersecting their zigzag route, several times a day. All the big boys were there. Schleck, Voigt, Cavendish, Boasson Hagen , etc. In fact I had a great chat with Boasson Hagen at the airport, as we were leaving at the same time, as we discussed the terrible weather at the top of a mountain on the second last stage. Here are a few shots.
