I was actually impressed with the power available for the drill press, lathe, and sander. The table saw set up was rather small in space, and actually seemed dangerous to use. Same for the jointer and band saw. The blades fro the table saw were very "thick" and heavy, and didn't seem to offer a choice of making "fine" cuts with the saw. Also, the saw didn't tilt for bevelled cuts, but rather the table tilted, which made for awkward and unsafe
So I was one of several woodworkers (I suppose) who at one time or another owned a ShopSmith Mark V multi-component work station. Mine included a table saw, drill press, horizontal boring machine, lathe, band saw, jointer, and disc sander. They were well built with a very powerful motor and saved on quite a bit of shop space. But, it just seemed annoying to have to go through the motions of changing the configuration to get each facet available to me, ... although the process was quite easy. I abandoned the machine after about one year of frustration, but I am happy for it.
Who else owned one of these, and what were your experiences.
