Here's a photo from one of the stories of the building now housing the Algoma Conservatory of Music at the bottom of Huron Street. Mill employees had not been paid and let their frustrations be known at the Administration Building of the paper mill. I don't think a single pane of glass survived.

Here's a photo from the early 1900's of the building now housing the Algoma Conservatory of Music at the bottom of Huron Street. I knew it as the Admin Bldg for the paper mill. Lots of stories around that building. In this pictures timeframe, the road went further down to the power generation plant - unlike the big wall and plant that exist there now.

IDA at the corner of Queen and Bruce. Nice to see the building repurposed. I remember it as the Davis Clothing building. It was a place to buy trendy 'cool' clothing back in the day.

Despite being so controversial back when they played the Sault in 1980, they recently returned for their 50th anniversary show at the Machine Shop.

Some original unpainted brickwork on the former Nicolet Tavern/Rednecks Saloon was briefly uncovered today before new insulation is being applied to the facade. I went to Searchmont for the ski swap today and snapped a photo of the train station looking sadder than ever. I’m no expert, but I don’t think that roof will hold for another winter.

The covering over the old Blockbuster sign on Trunk Road is starting to come undone. It’s funny how quickly the idea of spending 20 minutes picking out a flick has gone from being normal to weird. I remember going to that store repeatedly to rent my kid the same movies over and over again. 🤣

Today's pic from the archives - was noted as Queen St 1880. I haven't quite figured out the landmarks - but my guess is this is looking west down Queen, with the old PUC building now being somewhere in the middle on the left side. I think that bell/church looking tower would be the building now home to BDO. The East St turn with what we know as Muio's/Opa's on the left visible in the centre
