Sault memories
Bill Nash Bill Nash ·

Back in the 60s, kids around North America flocked around their TV to watch the "Batman" series with Adam West and Burt Ward, which ran from 1966 to 1968. At the annual Car Show at the Memorial Gardens in 1967, one of the exhibits was the actual Batmobile (or one of them) used in the TV series. They had a draw that evening, and some lucky kid in the Sault was going to have the Batmobile pick them up from home and bring them to school that day. I had dragged my brother Ian with me to the car show, and that night we got a phone call saying his ballot had been drawn to win the much sought after ride. My brother Ian went to grade 4 at Merrifield School, which was in our back yard on Patrick Street. The driver picked up Ian and our younger brother Dave at our house, and drove them around the block a few times before dropping them off at the school door. This photo was taken in front of our house on Patrick Street in the summer of 1967.
