Ollie the crested gecko and I welcome everyone new to the coolest Pets and Animals Space! My name is Cassandra. I am a flora/fauna artist and a small hobby breeder of geckos. I have experience with many pet types as well as taken numerous local flora/fauna courses. This space is for all species and breeds, to share our love and knowledge.

Crested geckos can "change their colours" or more accurately fire up or down their colour saturation. When calm, hiding or sleeping they fire down. When they are awake, feeling spunky or sometimes in the sunshine they can fire up. You can see the saturation range in these photos... Some were wide awake and others woke up for their photo.

What's the 3rd most common pet behind cats and dogs? Budgies! 🦜 Again we have a common theme that just because they are cheap to buy does not mean they are cheap to keep. Be prepared not only to spend money on a large cage and toys but spend a lot of your own time with your bird. Budgies are amazing though. Not only are they tiny flying dinosaurs but they are very intelligent and engaging as pets. Comment any other budgie tips below. 👇

I spotted Woody the Woodpecker outside my house yesterday. According to Google, the pileated woodpecker is a large, striking bird, nearly crow-sized, with a distinctive red crest, black body, and white stripes on its face and wings, known for excavating large, rectangular holes in trees while foraging for carpenter ants. It was definitely hungry!

Chinchillas! So soft and cute 🥰. Just keep them away from heat sources and be cautious handling as they have fragile skeletons. Always do more research before getting any new pet.

Milo is a 13 year old Pomeranian poodle mix! He’s the most loving, cuddly guy and loves a belly scratch! Milo enjoys lying in the corner of our sectional (which he’s claimed that spot as his own) and loves a treat or two! He enjoys a brisk walk where he can be found doing the most to get an extra treat at the end of it. We may be bias, but he’s the cutest pooch to ever exist!
