Newcomer Fact: 90% of us land in Canada as Academic scholars. We come with bachelor’s, masters and PhD degrees. Many as doctors, lawyers,accountants, therapists, engineers, teachers, consultants - successful professionals in our home countries!!
If you ask any Newcomer: so why did you come to Canada...? We all answer the same ( in different languages of course lol )..." for our kids/family". See some of us came from places where our degrees could not guarantee the safety of our kids- so that became our greatest motivation. We wanted MORE FOR OUR CHILDREN!!
So, here we are starting over!! We left the known for the unknown - just to secure a better future for our kids.
Next time you sit in a room with a Newcomer....ask them why they came. Our stories of resilience, determination and sheer bravery are simply amazing !!
