I once met Chris Simon in the early 1990s, when he co-hosted a First Nations hockey school alongside Owen Nolan on Manitoulin Island.
My mom used to babysit Chris back in the day, so she introduced me to him during a charity softball game in Wikwemikong involving NHL players and firefighters.
Chris actually let me sit beside him on the bench with all the NHL players! And he even autographed one of his rookie cards for me. What a friggin' class act.
My heart goes out to all of Chris' family.
