Nice of them to handle that fairly, good for them.
Nice to see a pic of your house as I recall you mentioning a 100 year old house and were getting into renovating it yourself.
A little envious, as my wife and I looked at a couple very old houses as well, like the look and feel and character of them, like the front porch.
In the end, my age and abilities and no one to help for projects, and costs to really fix it up, just couldn't do it,

Yes we've done a good amount of structural repair but very little in terms of renovation — mostly restoration. When we first moved in, we found the roof was sagging so we shored it up, and we had to jack up from the basement in one spot. I really love our house but it is a lot of work and will always be more expensive to restore rather than replace 😓 But I think it is a noble effort! Once the character of these century homes is gone, it's gone!

I was very lucky to have my dad and father-in-law who both helped me a lot as an early homeowner. Cost will always be a limiting factor so DIYing saves me some money
@Eric Moss you are definitley on the noble path! Cost for me was one of many factors, not the only one, but in light of all the others, had to be considered.
Maintaining the character is definitley something we would have done as well becasue thats why we like the older homes.
Yeah, no family here and that is who would I would rely on theoretically for the bigger projects. They would also 'get it' as to why we would have been doing it.
Today I had eavestroughs installed. They accidentally installed them in the front of the house when I had only paid for them around the back, so they didn’t charge me for the additional. They did a great job too!
