So, uh, did you know you can ride the Hub Trail on a trainer? Anyone tried it? Just did it and it's interesting. It's on an app called Kinomap, which is kind of a Zwift alternative that I have been trying out. The routes are GPS-synced videos uploaded by users. My thoughts . . . - You start off at the Bushplane Museum and do the route counterclockwise, which is how it should be done (IMHO!) - The difficulty is a little light. I boosted the resistance to 105%, which felt somewhat realistic, although still on the light side, at least based on my effort up the Finn Hill section (not that I'm complaining!). That might differ based on your trainer I guess - You can ride at speeds that would be completely unsafe for yourself and the people around you if you did it in real life. Fun! I chose the option to have the video match my speed, which is a little jittery when you start to really outpace the original rider. - The route includes some interesting traffic choices. I have personally never been tempted to cut across the Black and McNabb intersection diagonally, but evidently it can be done - It felt weird to stop at stop signs on my trainer, so I kept spinning. - There was no ice cream at all. Cycle 'N Cones is the clear winner on that front! - It is a real video, so a bunch of Saultites make cameos walking their dogs etc. Maybe you could run into yourself!
