More concerning the finishes on bicycles. These are different. It isn't the frame finish here, but the components that are to be the centre of attention. Cycling has a long history of using 21 carat gold plating, usually on components, but occasionally they plate the frame. Here are two examples. The first is a Colnago Arabesque. The very ornate lugs were the main feature of this frame, so adorning the frame with equally 'bling' components has becomes almost a given with many collectors. The Arabesque has a full Campagnolo C Record groupset, with Cobalto brakes and Cinelli bars and stem, completely gold plated. The other is a 55cm Colnago Master Adidas commemorative frame from 2021, of which only 150 were ever built. I built the 55cm, but also have another, a 54cm, which remains unbuilt. The 55cm has a Campagnolo Super Record (First edition) gold plated groupset. The ultimate bling, but of course due the fragility of the gold finishes, these will never be ridden. Does anyone have other examples of other ways that one can either design, or build up a frame, so it becomes unique ?
