MATINEE AFTERNOON ....... This commercial never gets old. The introduction of the C4 Corvette in 1983 revealed the most technologically advanced car on the planet and this commercial was also ahead of it’s time with its dazzling displays of the new Corvette in motion on a winding road. The early 80s was the Star Wars era and the C4 Corvette took on the Star Wars theme in it’s design with it’s digital dash, sliding control switches and cockpit style seats, the clamshell hood and its pop up headlights. It truly was ahead of its time. Riding in my 1986 Corvette felt like I was piloting a jet fighter with its precise steering, with the cockpit designed seats that held me in place when manoeuvring a winding road and its creaking sounds (an untended feature, but turned out to be one that added to it’s driving experience).
