Join us TODAY, December 14th at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum from 1 - 4 PM for Free/Pick! 🍎

Free/pick is a participatory artwork in which the community is invited to join artist Kathryn Huckson in peeling, cutting, and making baked goods with a bushel of apples picked (for free) from various front yards and public sites in the Bawating/Sault Ste. Marie area. The processed apples will be baked into apple pies, apple crisps, and muffins. Kathryn has been creating performances and participatory social artworks that involve food and eating since 2017. She is interested in using food as a medium for collaboration, community engagement, and provoking the sharing of stories and memories. Apples often feature in her artwork for a variety of reasons, some of which will be shared in stories during Free/Pick.

This artwork is open to any members of the public 18 years of age and older with English literacy, as there is a consent form required.
Participants can join in on the processing of the apples and/or on the eating of prepared goods if they wish to - or they may simply join us to watch, be together, talk, and listen.
