*12 Days of White Christmas*

For the past few months I have been involved with the Musical Comedy Guild’s production of White Christmas (running Dec 4-7, get your tickets now!) as an ensemble cast member. Returning to the local theatre community after more than 20 years was inspired by my mom, who is also a scene-stealing crowd character with her well-placed bah-humbugs, and it’s been a blast making the memory of doing a show together.

As I have been quietly observing during this rehearsal season, there are so many parts to putting on a production like this, and I’m delighted to share these 12 blogs of White Christmas with you as we get closer to opening night!

We open in 12 days, and this is where things get exciting. Day-long rehearsals in the theatre, warm-ups in the black box, quick costume changes and the camaraderie of more than a dozen friends clamoring for the dressing room mirror.

The unsung hero is all the work behind the scenes by some of the most truly dedicated volunteers I have ever met. The feeling in the air tonight as we presented our float in the Rotary Santa Claus Parade was one of pure excitement – to show off the incredible float complete with a life-size snow globe, and the only actual SNOW to be found on this November night thanks to the special effect expertise of designer Keith Bowser, and vision of our director, the incomparable Timothy Murphy.

If you want to get to know more inside scoop, more behind-the-scenes, and more of my thoughts on re-connecting with my theatre family – follow along on Instagram @huckstogive, with the Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie on Facebook, and on SooToday’s new SPACES!
