True story: My husband and I popped into Down the Line Antiques in Bruce Mines on Sunday. I was admiring this photograph when from behind me, my husband says, "Oh my God! That's my family!" He recognized the image immediately as one his grandmother had. One of the two young boys pictured is his great-great-grandfather. Yes, we bought it.

Another piece in that box of treasures I picked up. A Bakelite cigarette holder with case.

Not particularly rare, after all these manuals were intended for all returning Canadian soldiers from World War II. Still, an interesting find in that recent box of goodies I purchased. Have you ever come across one of these?

Also from that lot I bought today. It’s made from a very early plastic, probably Gutta Percha? I think it’s a promotional item from Cow Brand Baking Soda, possibly to hold matches? If you have any ideas, let me know.

Some old eyeglasses that were in a box of treasures I purchased from a gentleman who is in his 90s. He’s not sure who they belonged to, but said he probably got them years ago from his uncle. Definitely pre-WWI, maybe 1920s? Apparently that’s when nose pads started to appear and these glasses don’t have them.

For years, I have been looking for a frame for a silkscreened gig poster my old roommate did for Ty Segall. I didn’t have the dimensions memorized, but when I saw this frame tonight in ReStore I figured I could make it work. Amazingly, it was a perfect fit. Doesn’t happen often, but it’s nice when it works out. Is it cruel to get rid of the crewel that was in the frame? 🤣

Needs a clean, but a pretty great find. Single-stitched, so most likely from the early to mid 90s.

I’m not usually into that hipster ironic trucker hat life, but for this beauty I’ll make an exception.

Didn’t buy, but pretty amazing RCA record player at ReStore. I love the built in record cubby when you ope. It (see second pic). For $199 it can be yours!

I own quite a few pieces of vintage jewellery, all of which has been passed down to me from family members. I absolutely love the unique look of the settings and stories behind the peices, which are all very sentimental to me. The one downfall however, of wearing old jewellery like this is that it can be fragile. My Grandmother's Opal birthstone ring recently broke (in pictures). I have the small peice of stone and am hopeful I can have it …

This came up in my Facebook memories today, a popcorn butter pump that I didn't buy 10 years ago because it brought back bad memories of the mess they made when I worked at the Imperial 8 Cinemas when I was a teenager 🤣. Probably should have bought, it would have really tied the kitchen decor together.
