Sunset Seen Over Whitefish Bay Seen from the Rudderhead Point Area on Tuesday October 29th, 2024
With the sun so far to the south I have to go almost to the end of Marlette Drive in order to see the sun over the water and here the lake is still Lake Superior but specifically it is Whitefish Bay. Bluewater and Niles Bay are to my left.

I used a technique called The hyperfocal distance to get the sharp depth of field on these pictures. The hyperfocal distance is the distance beyond which all objects are acceptably sharp, for a lens focused at infinity. In other words, there is a focal point between the foreground and background that allows both of them to be in focus. The distance from the camera to that point is called hyperfocal distance.
