Mobile phones have brought photography to the masses. It's now difficult for anyone other than a professional to tell the difference between a cell pic and one taken with expensive equipment. Personally, I leave my 3 cameras safe at home and use my cell, which I always have with me anyways.

What scenarios do you find that you need a camera- and what's the functionality that makes you say "a cell phone won't cut it for this shot"?

Only very long shots.... I have a Nikon with a 83X optical zoom... I still don't use it much anymore as I need a tripod to hold it steady.

Great shot, Jim! I agree, I've gotten cell photos blown up and printed on canvas, and you'd never know the difference. I find my phone often takes better photos in a snap than my SLR because it can automatically apply SDR and other enhancements where that would involve a lot of messing around in SLR settings followed by post-processing in photoshop to get the same result.

Maybe this is why Canon and Nikon are not going to develop any new DSLR's. Sad but that's the reality. I recently tried to sell some of my equipment and couldn't, it will probably have to wait until they become collectables.
