I know that my father loved his home and his country, and the experience of leaving it all behind must have been heartbreaking. Nonetheless, he pressed on towards the Canadian shores to give his family a new lease on life.

I believe this recipe book is from the 1950’s. A beloved collection established by local church and civic groups in the Soo - Italian, Croatian, Ukrainian, Finnish, Viennese. You can see the love of community from the notes inside, and with the local merchants who advertised in it.

It is a great past time for those long winter days. The Bocce league plays at the Rollers Bocce Courts at the Marconi Cultural Center on Albert Street every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9pm
