Lets discuss an Albaklov rappell. When you want to rappell of an ice climb without leaving an ice screw you use the Albakov. Slings or ropes are threaded through the icicle by drilling holes with a long icescrew. These are joined with a carabiner.

Below is a few images of the types of ice one would encounter. Dead ice is easy to recognize because it has snow cover Live Ice which is growing in real time is Wet and it grows as you watch it, depending on the air temperature

K.13.4 Icewall today at 3:00 pm Should be good for Saturday. This is the Talk About Good Wall.In total there are 9 routes in this area along a 150 meter polished granite wall. Interesting enough,this wall lies alongside an Glacial Terminal moraine that was breached by the early Chippewa river once the glacial pond reached about 50 meters deep Mile 38 cuts through the moraine at Km.13.2.

Access to searchmont ice climb is blocked by fallen trees. Ice is just forming. Should be ready next weekend

There were inquiries about Rock Climbing in the area. These are the 2 guidebooks that printed in 2012. Since then there has been much more rock climbing development .New editions for each area will be available in Spring 2025
The new 3rd edition will have over 60 routes on drone images 2

In Batchawana Bay, off the Carp River Road at Km.9 is a large hill called Mamainse Mountain. It is alsao known as CERRO DE HIEL (Mountain of Ice). We have been climbing there since winter 2000. On Cold winter days when its clear sky, its a destination for climbers. WHY? Because all ice flows face south and they get the warm?? sunshine all day.
