*12 Days of White Christmas*

We’ve arrived at single digits, friends – the curtain rises on opening night in just 9 days. There is really such a magic in the air once you move into the theatre space and all of the compartments collide – you better learn quickly where to stand in the wings so you don’t get clipped by the moving set pieces. You’re meeting new faces of the technical crew, getting fitted for your microphone, running for your life through the corridor to make it on cue after a quick costume change, feeling the warmth of the stage lights on your face.

As I mentioned, a major motivating factor of returning to the community theatre scene was the chance to do this show with my mom Silvana. After many dedicated years of chauffeuring me back and forth as a youth to countless shows and volunteering to be the fruit slicer in the green room, it is now her turn to have a spot at the dressing room mirror. To see the movement of a production backstage with all it’s working parts. To cherish this experience with the kindest and most encouraging group of friends one could ever ask for. While this is not her debut performance, it is her first on the Sault Community Theatre Centre’s mainstage and getting to enjoy this through her eyes is unforgettable.

There was a swell of excitement all around us tonight as we exchanged compliments on performances, hair & makeup. As we shared tips & tricks and supported each other with scene cues and applause. As we snuck into the house seats to watch the scenes we weren’t in, marveling at the talent by our fellow castmates and by our director & stage management team who expertly placed each riser, chair, table and coat rack with consideration for you, the audience, from every angle.

To be sure, there won’t be a bad seat in the house when you join us this Dec 4-7 as we bring this dreamy production to life – it’s a White Christmas in the Sault & you’re invited!
